Roatan, Honduras

Roatan is an island about 48 miles long and less than 5 miles wide sitting roughly 40 miles off the north coast of Honduras. It has a fairly modern cruise ship terminal and we arrived there via the Carnival Dream. As the island is small and we had lots of time to explore it, we opted to walk out of the tourist trap area and get our own ride to some of the sites we had in mind. Our guide got us to each of our desired stops before the crowd from the ship would arrive which gave us time to take the pictures that we like, without lots of people getting in the way.

There are lots of Iguanas of several species that inhabit the island and we had a blast at Arch’s Iguana and Marine Park. The monkey park was fun, but I will have to warn you, monkey’s do not hold their bladder contents very well and you may find yourself needing a shower when you leave. The gardens were mostly not in full bloom when we were there in late December, but there was  a lot of variety in the plants.

I hope you enjoy these images.
